Beginning Band Equipment Needs
All Band Students need the following items for Band class:
- A working instrument
- Folding music stand (labeled with student's name)
- Standard of Excellence, Book 1, 2, or 3 for their own instrument
- Instrument care items (swab, valve oil, etc.) See list below.

Care and cleaning supplies
The following is a list of accessory equipment and cleaning supplies to keep the instrument working well (most available as kits at Heid Music):
Flutes
- Tuning Rod
- Silver polishing cloth (outside)
- Silk swab (inside) or pad saver
Clarinets, Oboes, Saxes
- Cloth swab (oboe), Pull Through Swab/Pad Saver
- Cork grease
- Reed guard (Clarinet/Sax)
- Mouthpiece cap (Clarinet/Sax)
- 3 Clarinet/Sax reeds (2 1/2)
- 2 Oboe Reeds (Jones, med. soft)
Trumpet, Horn, Trombone, Baritone
- Valve/Rotor Oil or Slide-O-Mix/Cream (Trombone)
- Lacquered Brass polishing cloth
- Cleaning Snake
- Mouthpiece Brush
- Tuning Slide Cream
Percussion
- Bell Mallets (hard plastic on ends)
